Breathing correctly relieves anxiety and stress, helps regulate our emotions, allows you to focus, and improves communication. Katy Kvalvik, board-certified health counselor, certified executive coach, and founder and president of Southwestern Empowerment, teaches the importance of breathing and demonstrates several easy breathing practices in the video below. She shows us how to elongate our breath by using our whole bodies to breathe—versus just our neck or chest—so we can achieve a state of relaxed concentration to cultivate a sense of well-being and calmness.
