Human Resources (HR) is an important component of our “We build people” mission. As the VP of HR, Patty Hoppenstedt’s first responsibility was to staff the department to meet the growing HR demands of the organization and to fulfill the vision of offering additional services to our family member companies.
“We have an exciting opportunity to continue to provide quality HR services,” says Patty Hoppenstedt, “and build upon that foundation to provide additional services that are vital to the health and growth of Southwestern Family of Companies.”
With the addition of Kerry Myrick, who is joining the team as the Human Resources Manager, she will oversee Recruiting Program Management, New Hire Onboarding, Employee Service Awards and Recognition Programs, and HR Communications. She will also assist with Performance Management, Succession Planning, and Compensation Plans.
Kerry earned her Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration, Professional Management at the University of North Alabama. Her HR career began in 2002, and she is excited to use her 18 years of experience to support Southwestern Family of Companies.
Jessica Harlan joined the Human Resources team as the Benefits and HRIS Analyst. Jessica earned her Professional of Human Resources Certification from the Society for Human Resource Management Association and has a Bachelor’s degree in Public Relations. With over 10 years of combined Benefits Administration and HR systems experience, she has worked to implement several HRIS platforms as well as directed benefit programs for over 4,000 employees. Jessica will provide the following service areas: Group Benefits Programs (including medical, dental, vision, EAP, long-term disability, life insurance, FSA, HSA, and 401(k) plans), COBRA and Retiree Insurance Programs, Workers’ Compensation, Leave of Absence Administration, and HRIS administration.
Trish Hicks continues to be a dedicated member of the HR team, supporting the administrative department needs and assisting with recruiting initiatives as well as project work related to HR initiatives.
