JOB SUMMARY:

The Content Strategist plans, develops, writes and manages the content for the Southwestern Consulting. This content will range from web, social, video, blogs, product development and other areas as needed. The Content Strategist will be responsible for recommending the types of content needed to reach business goals and how to optimize and leverage content to make the biggest impact. The Content Strategist reports to the Vice President of Marketing and provides excellent service to team members and customers, and demonstrates the overall company values while supporting the mission.

JOB DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:     

  • Creating and enforcing a plan for producing content
  • Working with others on the team including designers, editors and others to hit deadlines
  • Manage, coach, train and develop a team. Provide on-going performance feedback.
  • Ensure that media and collateral pieces are consistently created with the team brand
  • Research and stay up to date on the latest developments in terms of search engine optimization, content trends, and consumer behavior
  • Provide strategic and tactical leadership related to all content
  • Update older content to meet new content standards
  • Analyze target market information to identify and recommend effective content strategies
  • Write compelling content both short and long form
  • Provide editing support across various media and marketing channels
  • Build relationships with necessary business partners and vendors
  • Maintain a content calendar of project deadlines and content launch dates
  • Oversee the launch and development of new content channels
  • Optimize and report on campaign successes and provide insights based on the findings
  • Identify new and emerging strategies to increase brand awareness that will lead to business growth
  • Perform other duties as assigned

REQUIRED QUALIFICIATIONS:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Communications, Marketing, Journalism or related field
  • 6 years of experience in content strategy and content creation
  • 3 years of leadership experience and managing teams preferred
  • Experience with business to business and business to consumer content preferred
  • Proficient with Microsoft Office Suite or related software
  • Thorough understanding of SEO developments
  • Thorough understanding of marketing strategies and practices
  • Excellent interpersonal and customer service skills
  • Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
  • Ability to work on multiple projects simultaneously while accomplishing daily tasks
  • Effective oral and written communication skills and excellent interpersonal skills
